Many common household chemicals, such as automotive products, household cleaning agents, and medication are very dangerous to Fido. You’ll also want to be sure to keep pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and other lawn/garden products out of your four-legged buddy’s reach. This includes smaller items, like roach traps or ant bait. Glue is another serious danger.
Grocery bags can pose a serious choking hazard for your furry pal. The plastic rings that hold beverage packs together can also be dangerous. Be sure to keep plastic bags and wrappers well away from your pooch.
Sharp items are very dangerous for dogs! Knives, scissors, and razor blades may immediately come to mind, but smaller objects, like safety pins and tacks, can also cause injuries.
Many of our favorite foods are toxic to our canine friends. Some of the things you’ll want to keep away from Fido include chocolate; alcohol; garlic, onions, and chives; pitted fruits; avocados; nuts; raw dough, yeast, or meat; grapes, currants, and raisins; and anything that contains xylitol.
Small items are another serious risk, as they can choke Fido, or seriously damage his digestive system. Some examples of dangerous items are pennies, buttons, pen caps, safety pins, needles, screws, and even nails. The list doesn’t stop there, however: Man’s Best Friend has been known to swallow keys, rings, jewelry, rubber bands, and many other objects.
Many popular houseplants are dangerous for dogs. Be sure to remove any plants that aren’t safe for your furry buddy. You can find a full list of both safe and unsafe plants on the ASPCA website.
Pets and fire do not mix! Keep candles well away from Fido, and never leave him unattended near open flames.
